Live & Local: Kendall Street Company
Virginia’s Kendall Street Company are no strangers to having a wild time. What started as casual songwriting and jam sessions among five young lads a decade ago has evolved into a super-tight, prolific touring machine. Including elements of crowd participation, off-the-cuff comedy, haphazard choreography, musical improvisation, and surprise guests, every Kendall Street Company performance is an experience unlike any other. Some genre purists might classify them as a jam band; their shows and albums are all over the place. While this is great for their collective artistic expression as five young creatives with a myriad of ideas and influences, it is sometimes difficult to convey their exact sound to the uninitiated. You’ll just have to come see it for yourself. If you like space operas, heartfelt love ballads, songs about misfit sea creatures, soaring guitar and saxophone solos, folksy songwriting, heady jams, or just having a lot of fun, KSC might just have something for you. They even have a cute little mascot named Lenny the Lemon. He has a PhD. All hail Lenny!
Kendall Street Company is: Louis Smith [Rhythm Guitar/Lead Vox], Brian Roy [Bass], Ryan Wood [Drums], Ben Laderberg [Lead Guitar], and Jake Vanaman [Saxophone/Keys].
